2010 NEW ORLEANS RUGBY RECOVERY EFFORT

raising a wall

For the 4th year the US Women’s Rugby Foundation is proud to coordinate The New Orleans Rugby Recovery Effort. This is an opportunity NOLA Habitat for Humanity to spend two days working side by side with other volunteers to help clean up and rebuild homes in the New Orleans area. We will be once again organizing volunteers for the New Orleans Habitat for Humanity and will assist on one or more of their ongoing projects. Projects will include both the construction of new homes and repair of surviving homes.

We have selected the dates of this volunteer effort to coincide with the Mardi Gras Women’s Rugby Tournament February 13 -14. (Tournament Hotel: The Halfmoons have reserved a block of rooms at the La Quinta New Orleans Westbank (504-368-5600 or 504-368-5600) for Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights.)

  • Volunteer Group Name: U.S. Women’s Rugby Foundation
  • Work Dates: February 11 & 12 (plan to arrive in New Orleans on Wednesday as Habitat starts Thursday 7 AM, depart Friday 4 PM)
  • Transportation to New Orleans & Volunteer worksite: Responsibility of volunteer
  • Food and Lodging: Responsibility of volunteers. There are several non-profit lodgings for volunteers. Check the New Orleans Habitat for Humanity website for listings.
