Why we love Micalah:
Rugby has shaped me as an individual that loves being able to give 100% of myself to my team and union. Rugby is such a unique sport where everyone can be their authentic selves! Where everyone shares in the abundant love for the sport and each other. It’s something I feel everyone should experience. Taking this feeling and passing through my work and self-development is something I am truly grateful for! I hope to inspire others to be the best version of themselves and continue to grow this amazing sport!
Micalah leads with kindness and genuine care for the people around her. She's always looking for ways to elevate the game through improving processes, strengthening our community, or pushing herself to grow as a player and leader. She embodies the best of our sport, upholding a rugby environment where everyone feels welcome and valued. Brandywine Riot and the Eastern Pennsylvania Rugby Union are better because of her commitment, and I'm so proud to see her recognized among this year's 15 Under 30 honorees. [Stephanie "Icebox" Ottino; President & Assistant Coach, Brandywine Riot Women's Rugby Club]
We love Micalah because of how much she loves us! If there is any way at all to contribute to the game of rugby, and to the people that love it, Micalah is going to step up and do it without hesitation and get the job done in a professional manner. She started giving back immediately upon joining Widener University’s team by becoming a Student Rep and she has never spent a single day in the last 8.5 years where she wasn’t simultaneously both a player and an admin/director.
In college she went from Student Rep to Match Sec to Club President spending all 4 years as a club officer and upon graduation she joined the EPRU Board immediately. Since joining senior club rugby, she has served her Union as a Board Member, Executive Committee Member, and Competition Coordinator while serving her home club as a Secretary, and Vice-President. During her time doing all of that off-field work she has also managed to win 3 EPRU Championships as a player.
The value of her work has been immeasurable. I have seen this first hand for years. We love Micalah because she is AWESOME! [Dave Codell]
