Nancy Kechner

Nancy is the 2017 USA Rugby’s Female College Coach of the Year. Nancy has also been inducted into the Virginia Rugby Hall of Fame, class of 2018. She began her playing career at University of Virginia in 1980. After graduation she played for Monmouth and Phila- delphia Women, and coached Princeton to an appearance in the first college nationals. Nancy returned to UVA in 1997 and has been coaching the women’s team ever since. She’s led UVA to 19 round of 16s, 8 quarter finals, 4 semifinals, and 1 National Championship Game. Nancy coached the VRU U-23s for 9 years, the MARFU U-23s for 4 years, and has served as a Coach Accreditation Program Instructor for USA Rugby.

Teams Played For: UVA (‘80-88), Philly (‘88-90), Monmouth (‘90-97), Blue Ridge (‘97-00)
Teams Coached (all as head coach): UVA (‘85-88 and ‘97-present), Coached UVA to 22 Sweet 16s, 18 Elite 8s, 4 Final Fours, played for the National Championship in 2016
