Welcome from USWRF and WRCRA Leaders

Welcome to the new USWRF-WRCRA website!

We have built this online space as a resource for and celebration of women’s rugby, from the first club teams founded in 1974 to the youth teams founded in 2019, and everything in between.

This site is a key tool in our new communications and outreach strategy designed to both showcase the work of USWRF and WRCRA while enabling you, our community, to share your own stories and best practices with each other. We are beefing up our content, increasing the frequency of updates, and creating more actionable tools that you can use in your roles within women's rugby. We plan to highlight our partners both as a thank you for your support and also to continue tying the complex web of women's rugby together into a cohesive community.

In addition to information core to our day-to-day work as rugby coaches, referees, administrators, journalists, players, and supporters, we intend for our site to be a place to share resources and stories with you and about you that will educate all of us about the lack of gender equity across all industries, particularly in sport, and serve as a call to action for us to collectively share our voices to create change.

We will be highlighting voices like Muffet McGraw, Abby Wambach, and the U.S. Women's Soccer Team in the hope of inspiring others by sharing their stories. And we invite all WRCRA members to share your own resources and stories with us by email at wrcra.info@gmail.com so that we can include your point of view in the Commentary section of our new blog.

For WRCRA members, we've added several interactive benefits including a job board, a member forum, the ability to comment on blogs, and access to our Mentors Initiative. We also want to provide opportunities for members to write guest commentaries, be featured in our member spotlight, and participate in online and in-person events. The site also serves as a member database, giving you a single location in which you can manage your member profile and membership.

Once the site is launched, we will be shifting our focus towards a larger initiative celebrating women’s rugby at the local level so start thinking about the stories that you can share with us about your experiences in any rugby-related role in your local community. We'll put out a call for stories shortly.

We ask that you please encourage your friends, teammates, and colleagues to join WRCRA. As we increase our membership numbers, we increase our power as a collective body to leverage change and achieve equity within the larger rugby landscape

.

We are already in the planning stages for our next Women in Rugby Conference, so please keep your eyes open for our save the date notice.

Thank you for your commitment and support of our work. We are excited that you're a part of our professional home and appreciate your continued patience as we grow.

Best,

Danita Knox, President & Chair, USWRF

Kerri Heffernan, Chair, WRCRA
